There aren’t any mandatory vaccinations required for visitors to Tajikistan but you should be up-to-date with Typhoid, Tetanus Polio as well as Hepatitis A. Malaria is prevalent in certain areas of Tajikistan therefore we suggest you seek advice from your local GP or travel clinic regarding the proper vaccinations and preventative treatment.
Cultural Sensitivity

One thing to remember about traveling through Central Asia is that most regions, especially the towns and cities, are more laid back in their approach to Islam than their neighbors to the south in Afghanistan and Pakistan. However, it should be remembered that it is technically considered to be a Muslim region , and thus an extra dose of caution is required in some areas. Long shorts and T-shirts are fine for both sexes in the city, but if visiting any active mosques everybody should wear trousers which are shorter than the knee and tops that cover shoulders. Also, a headscarf is advised for women. On this trip, we will be traveling in remote locations not often visited by tourists. The locals wear modest clothing, so it is likely that you’ll feel more at ease wearing conservative clothes.
