It has been five-years since Sami went to France to undertake his studies in engineering. He could be courageous, ambitious, smart, and highly sensitive. Sami returns to Lebanon 3 x per year, in April, August, and December.
Nada, his mother, is 55 yrs . old and does not work. When Sami announced to her he could be likely to Paris to study, she was proud but also anxious. Scared and worried, she started sleeping less at night, contemplating how her son would survive life in France. From the cold to girls to food, everything worried her.
Before Sami left, he showed his mother how to use Skype and promised to occasionally to update her on his life, but he wasn’t sure this be adequate.
Nada spent a lot of her days looking forward to that Skype notification to see and speak to her son. Each time Sami returned home, he pointed out that her face increasingly showed indications of anxiety, which worried him a lot. He became anxious but was convinced that his diploma from France provides him using a better life.
August 2017. Sami just landed in Lebanon and goes home to see his parents. He looks at
his mother’s face and sees something more important: she is smiling and appears relaxed.
What is happening since 2012
Along with the technological advancements, WhatsApp was unveiled in the entire world. This was revolutionary in many ways. Believe it or not, it changed Nada’s life. She actually is a quick learner and received a smartphone as a gift from her son. Sami is now able to share many specifics of his life with her. Instantaneously, through voice messages, she will hear his voice any time during the day. She will also video-call him even when he could be on the street, inside a different country. Sami sometimes shares photos of his lunch, the elements, a write-up of clothing he wanted to buy, and even images of his new girlfriend. Whenever she’s anxious, she sends Sami a note, and a lot of that time period, she receives an
instantaneous response.
Technology has been criticized a whole lot lately like a reason why individuals are becoming distant, however in certain cases, especially for people living abroad, it’s changed their lives.
