With this place, Otto Eisenhut, the patient and talented cultivator of plants and trees, cultivated 1000s of beautiful and colourful flowering plants like 950 varieties of camelias, 450 different magnolias, azaleas, peonies and Rhododendron over a the surface of greater than 20’000 m2.
Additionally, here grows also ivy, pines, juniper along with other rare European and exotic coniferous trees.
Since the beginning of the year 2000 the park is led with the donation ” parco botanico del gambarogno “, which is to ensure the continuity of the attractive garden with its valuable botanic collection.
Visitors need one hour for your trip to this park, connoisseurs probably somewhat longer.
Cardada Cimetta
Perhaps you have belief that above Locarno there exists a view point that you will see as well the lowest point (Lago Maggiore) along with the highest point (Dufour Peak in Monte Rosa) in Switzerland?
About the summit in the mountain, 1671 meters above sea level, a viewing platform was built which overlooks your entire region of Lake Maggiore. To the east the view stretches from your Magadino Plain to Bellinzona. To the west the view extends over some of the most famous peaks with the Swiss Alps including the Dufour. Towards the south, beyond the mountains that surround Lake Maggiore, you can see from the distance the Ligurian Apennines, located near Genoa.
Further down, a few meters away from the arrival station with the cable car a footbridge was built which winds its way throughout the tops of the trees from the woods below. From this unusual scenic promontory it is possible to admire the forest, the Centovalli and parts of the Maggia Valley.
