When researching the benefits and all of the bells and whistles, I started to become very overwhelmed with the amount of information on the internet. This company sells it in this strength and at this dosage. It can be very overwhelming for beginners. An old friend of mine is here to help, though!
Piedmont Green was formed in 2019 by Eric Abarelli and Christian Dobson with the intention to bring a holistic and natural approach to healthy living through the benefits of CBD. They are located in Kannapolis, North Carolina and have built a solid business despite living in the Bible Belt, which opposes cannabis use. The team and their business have had such an impact on the community that they were able change people’s minds by educating them about CBD and its benefits. They also grow and make the products from their hemp, which makes it a small organic business.
What is CBD?
Eric was kind enough to explain what CBD is and how it affects our bodies. Here’s what he had for us:
“Cannabidiol, or CBD, is a derivative of the Cannabis Sativa plant. It is derived from the hemp plant which contains minimal THC (legal limit is <0.3%) and is non-psychoactive. Everyone has an Endocannabinoid system, which is a system of receptors that binds to one's organs, brain, nervous, and skeletal structure. It's composed of CB1-CB2 receptors, which are dormant cannabis receptors that are waiting for an external source. This system works in conjunction with the body to regulate serotonin dopamine, oxytocin and dopamine. Please do not self-diagnose, or do any other thing without consulting a doctor.
The Potential Benefits of CBD
It is important to add that when Eric was telling me about the benefits of using CBD, the FDA has still yet to approve it. On the bright side, “The FDA has approved only one CBD product, a prescription drug product to treat seizures associated with Lennox Gastaut syndrome (LGS), Dravet syndrome (DS), or tuberous sclerosis complex (TSC) in people one year of age and older.” Which gives hope for the future and a more holistic approach to medicine.
There are many people who have used CBD and their experiences with it. However, doctors still don’t prescribe it. Despite legalization of medical marijuana in many states across the country, it has yet to become legal in all 50. Here’s the updated list here. Here are some benefits to using CBD.
CBD could help with muscle pain/spasms and insomnia/sleep problems, fibromyalgia, autoimmune disorders, skin conditions (such as eczema or psoriasis), joint pains, Crohn’s Disease, IBS and migraines.
