There are plenty of different lotions and potions available to care for flowing hair and skin nowadays that it’s difficult to choose the best one. If you take an outing in your local drugstore, you may be greeted by row after row of shelves brimming with various products, all promising to operate wonders that will create miracles. I do believe the sole way to find out which merchandise is right for you is to experiment and attempt for yourself. Among my favourites that I am using for quite a while now is argan oil.
Sometimes known as ‘liquid gold’, this is a natural product, purchased from the kernels of the argan tree which is indigenous to Morocco. It is usually utilized as a moisturiser plus products to tend nice hair. It’s because the reality that the oil includes a high nutrient content and is also rich in fatty acids, anti-oxidants and e vitamin which can be vital for healthy skin and hair. It is usually renowned to make hair soft, silky and shiny and help to make locks more manageable. Other reported important things about argan oil for hair are the promotion of healthy hair growth, prevention of scalp dryness and itching and the restoration of dry and damaged hair. Like a non-greasy, easily absorbed oil it is used as a skin moisturiser which could benefit dry skin particularly. Additionally it is known for it’s anti-ageing properties and many advocates of argan oil have stated the actual way it has helped their skin conditions including acne and eczema. I have tried personally argan oil and acne to assist in treating dry skin on my small elbows and knees also it did wonders for me and left my skin beautifully smooth and soft without any irritation.
As a consequence of it’s benefits, celebrities including Julia roberts, Charlize Theron, Kylie Minogue, Madonna and Taylor Swift are common users of argan oil to aid look after their head of hair and skin. It’s even start to appear in mascara formulas because it is claimed it may help to create your lashes longer and more lustrous. My tresses are very dry and contains a wiry texture (it almost feels as though fine fishing line) and also the oil in it’s pure form really helps to add moisture and softness to my hair. Even if you are lucky enough to have naturally soft hair, argan oil is a nice final touch to provide extra gloss and shine.
Although finding shampoos, conditioners, hairstyling products and skincare products containing argan oil is simple, as a result of oil’s rarity they come at a relatively high price. Because i mentioned earlier on, the oil is extracted from the argan tree which is found in southern Morocco. The traditional approach to extracting the oil would have been to collect argan fruit, dry it, extract the nuts, crack them to reveal the kernels after which to crush these to release their oil. The process ended yourself and took fifteen hours of labour and thirty two kilograms of fruit to generate only one litre of oil! These days the kernels are mechanically cold pressed (heat damages the oil’s chemical properties). The tree is rare, extracting the oil is labour intensive… which means the high price. However, the good news is a bit oil goes a considerable ways.
The scarcity in the argan tree is when the problem lies. There are numerous products on the market now that incorporate argan oil or are marketed as ‘argan oil’ or ‘Moroccan oil’. Though if you examine the label, you will find often other ingredients (such as silicon) in larger quantities compared to actual argan oil. Cosmetic companies should work tirelessly to make sure that the provision of argan oil is sustainable in addition to a top quality, untainted by other oils or substances.
So how do you know you will get the real deal? If you’re buying a product containing argan oil – confirm the ingredients. Look out for ‘argania spinosa kernel oil’, it needs to be high up all the ingredients list and ideally, the product should contain as few ingredients as is possible. The more substances that the oil is mixed with, the less efficient the oil will be. Should you be buying pure argan oil, makes it in a dark coloured bottle as the light passing by having a clear bottle can breakdown the oil’s chemical properties. Some goods that are marketed as argan oil also possess a carrier oil like olive or sunflower oil. Be also mindful of the purchase price you are paying. Argan oil doesn’t have to be very expensive but concurrently, it is just a rare oil which is labour intensive to create and thus isn’t usually sold in a ‘giveaway’ price. The top argan oil product might not be the more costly but remember the word, ‘you get everything you pay for’.
